Redbrick, in collaboration with Aryze, invites residents and business owners to a public open house to explore the vision for Westholme Hotel, a forthcoming proposal for the corner of Pandora Avenue and Government Street. The event is an opportunity for anyone in the community to meet the project team, view early concept designs, and share feedback on preliminary plans.
Date: Tuesday, November 3, 2026
Time: Drop in anytime between 3 and 7 p.m.
Location: The Rotunda Courtyard, 1515 Douglas Street
The proposed site of Westholme Hotel, 603 Pandora Avenue, has sat vacant and fenced off since a fire destroyed the former Victoria Plaza Hotel in 2019. As a result, a key part of the downtown corridor is currently underutilized and interrupting the natural momentum of pedestrian traffic.
Westholme reimagines the vacant lot as a landmark hotel that serves both visitors and the broader community. The vision for Westholme includes an activated streetscape and welcoming
public spaces that encourage people to spend time in the neighbourhood, supporting the pedestrian-oriented design and cultural activity shaping downtown’s north end. Building on the existing hotel zoning at 603 Pandora, the locally-led project aims to help address the critical hotel room shortage, support year-round tourism, and make an architectural addition to the neighbourhood that residents can be proud of—in addition to amenities that benefit locals as much as visitors. The proposed project takes its name from the historic Westholme Hotel, which anchored this stretch of Government Street more than a century ago.
Projects like Westholme are meaningfully shaped in conversation with the community. Redbrick and Aryze welcome neighbours, business owners and members of the public to share their feedback as the project moves toward the City of Victoria’s formal community engagement and development application processes.
