Soap for Hope Canada has launched the third edition of its annual Hygiene Repurposing Campaign, inviting the community to help reduce waste while supporting individuals experiencing hygiene poverty.
Running until May 22, 2026, the campaign encourages residents to donate new and gently used hygiene products that might otherwise end up in landfill – including shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion – as well as new and unused essentials such as deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and incontinence products.
The initiative aims to divert usable products from waste streams while redistributing them to vulnerable individuals through Soap for Hope Canada’s community support programs. The campaign also encourages residents to “spring clean” their bathrooms by donating unused hotel amenities, unopened gift-with-purchase items, and/or products that are simply sitting in a drawer.
This year, 22 caring community partners across Greater Victoria have joined the campaign as official drop-off locations, including municipal halls, recreation centres, local businesses, and retail partners throughout Colwood, Langford, Oak Bay, Saanich, Sidney, Victoria, Vic West, and View Royal.
Community members interested in participating can learn more about accepted donations and find a nearby drop-off location on Soap for Hope Canada’s website.
