The Giving Ocean is a confirmed fundraising event created in honour of World Oceans Day.
Presented by Lab Victoria in collaboration with StorytellART, the evening will bring together
art, food, conversation, and community in support of ocean conservation, awareness, and
protection.
Conceived as an immersive and socially engaging experience, the event will invite guests
into a meaningful evening that blends culture, hospitality, and advocacy while raising funds
for ocean-focused charitable organizations.
Ticketing + Fundraising Goal
Tickets will be priced at $50 per guest. The event’s fundraising goal is $10,000, to be shared
among four major ocean-focused charities, including Only One’s 10% for the Ocean and
Surfrider.
Funds will be raised through ticket sales, silent auction participation, sponsor contributions,
and community partnership.
Event Experience
At the heart of the evening is a pop-up exhibition and silent auction themed The Giving
Ocean, featuring a range of artists and mediums that reflect the many ways the ocean
shapes life, livelihood, emotion, environment, and community.
The evening will also include:
● an oyster bar with buck-a-shuck
● a grazing table presented by Finest at Sea, with gestures toward plant-based
seafood spreads provided by Saved Da Sea.
● a non-alcoholic cash bar presented by Fizz
● a door prize
● support from a range of local sponsors and partners
Together, these elements will create an atmosphere that feels warm, artful, thoughtful, and
community-centered.
Panel Conversation
A featured panel will bring together guests whose work is directly connected to the ocean
through conservation, protection, awareness, education, food systems, and livelihood.
The conversation is intended to deepen the purpose of the evening by offering guests the
opportunity to hear from individuals whose personal and professional lives are shaped by an
ongoing relationship with the ocean.
Purpose
The purpose of The Giving Ocean is to create a meaningful fundraising event that celebrates
the beauty, generosity, and complexity of the ocean while mobilizing local support for its
care and protection.
By bringing together art, storytelling, hospitality, and advocacy, the event aims to inspire
generosity, deepen awareness, and demonstrate the power of community collaboration in
service of environmental impact
