Beehive Wool Shop is celebrating an extraordinary milestone – 120 years of community, creativity, and craftsmanship in Greater Victoria.
To mark the occasion, the beloved local business is hosting a special Anniversary Tea Party on Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. PST, inviting customers, friends, and community members to gather for a cozy afternoon of tea, treats, and conversation. The celebration will take place at their Beehive Fibre Arts Centre, located at 1205 Blanshard Street. Whether you’ve been part of the Beehive’s story for years or are discovering it for the first time, all are welcome to join in celebrating this historic moment.
Founded in 1906 as Beehive Yarns and Dry Goods, the shop has remained a cornerstone of Victoria’s retail community for more than a century. Over the decades, it has evolved alongside generations of makers while maintaining its reputation for quality products, knowledgeable service, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Today, the shop continues to thrive under the leadership of owner Julia Huggett, who carries forward the family tradition. Julia is also a finalist for the 2026 Greater Victoria Business Awards in the Business Person of the Year category.
Beehive Wool Shop remains a vibrant hub for creativity, offering an extensive selection of yarns, classes, and a space for the community to gather, learn, and connect. This anniversary is not only a celebration of the shop’s history, but also a testament to the enduring value of local, family-owned businesses in shaping Greater Victoria’s unique character.
