Victoria, BC-based Barnacle Systems selected to support landmark multinational research into high-speed boat operator safety and brain injury prevention.

Barnacle Systems Inc. announced that BRNKL Black, paired with the BRNKL MAREC high-frequency motion data logger, is an approved technology platform for NATO HFM RTG-419 — a landmark multinational research initiative studying human impact exposure and brain injury among high-speed boat (HSB) operators. The study, formally titled the MASHIEN Study (MultiAgency, prospective, exploratory, non-intervention, cohort Study on Human Impact Exposure oNboard high-speed boats), is led by Dr. Johan Ullman and Prof. Stephen Myers and spans 16 NATO member nations.

Barnacle’s selection as the study’s approved data collection platform marks a significant milestone for the Victoria, BC-based technology company — and a validation of its military-grade hardware, offline-first architecture and high-frequency data capture in one of the most demanding research environments in naval science.
